Brand and designer wars are far intense than Star Wars, eloquent and pervasive. There are people willing to spend their hard-earned blood, fight like Armageddon in retail stores and willing to be the showcase for every fresh article that just appears to be available first up. While we sway in the sorcery of this self-proclaimed fashion tribes and tend to become the pied piper followers, did we ever care bothering how the mind of those masterminds behind those work? How did they shape every gusset to hems? We blindly follow those trends. Let’s try to understand the mind of those fashion designers who are sitting on the top of the lace.
Surely, being a fashion designer is a courageous profession. You are willing to spill out what runs in your mind. You have to be expressive, brave and resilient. Sometimes, your ideas face huge backfire and tend to tear you down. It might ruin your creativity process. Fashion world is ruthless, not even your fame would save the day.
Art, in all forms is natural. No one can be a GMO artist and fashion is the biggest example. No offense to all University Graduates, but a designer is born. Coco Channel was raised in an orphanage, Giorgio Armani was a photographer assistant in a garment shop, Calvin Klein worked at father`s grocery store while looping for a designer.,
A designer thinks differently. They mix their vivid ideas with the colors they ideate. You will find a different person in all designs. They are brave, refuse to be marginalized and bold. While a student or an employee opens the doors of their minds timely, a designer never closes one. I found the observation process is so porous, that its always absorbing what they see, and keep storage in their mind where meetings of colors are held, transpires into fabric and later, expressed on the sketch books.
Being a designer takes immense awareness of the pulse of dynamic fashion industry which follows a butterfly flight. At times, your ideas are shaped by the trends and at the peak the trends are shaped by your ideas. It might be the coolest profession on the face of it but is the hardest ones with all strings attached. You need to shape a world that you idealized and dramatized in your mind and a style that will last forever, even when your name fades!
