New Year Celebrations Around the World

Every New Year, we start a new phase in our lives that is full of hope and opportunities. Here are some traditions from different cultures around the world. Let’s start the New Year celebrations!

In Spain, people fill their mouths with exactly 12 grapes at midnight! They believe that each grape represents good luck for every month of the year ahead.
In Denmark, residents throw old plates and glasses against their house doors to send the bad spirits and energies away. They also jump off chairs at midnight to enter January in the hope of good luck.
An old tradition from Turkey is to crash pomegranates at the enterance of the house for a whole year of abundance. It is also believed that, wearing red underwear on the New Year’s may bring good luck.
Farmers in Romania make their wishes through their animals. Farmers whisper good whishes to their ears and wait for the miracles to happen.
